Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
Kakiya ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and the rights you have. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), applicable provincial privacy laws, and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Who is responsible
- Controller: Kakiya Inc., 1234 Rue Principale, Suite 200, Halifax, NS B3H 4R2, Canada
- Privacy Officer: Alex Tremblay — contact@trykakiya.com
2. What we collect
- Order information: name, email, shipping and billing address, phone number, order contents.
- Payment information: processed directly by our payment providers. We never store your full card number.
- Account & marketing: email address, preferences, if you subscribe.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring source — collected via cookies and similar technologies.
3. Why we collect it
- To process, ship and support your orders;
- To provide customer service and handle returns or refunds;
- To send you marketing messages, where you have consented (you can withdraw consent at any time);
- To measure and improve our website and advertising;
- To detect fraud and meet our legal and tax obligations.
4. Consent
We obtain your consent when we collect your personal information, and we rely on it for marketing communications. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to contact@trykakiya.com or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing certain services.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate the store, and only for that purpose:
- Shopify Inc. — e-commerce platform and hosting;
- Payment processors (Shopify Payments, PayPal and similar) — payment handling;
- Shipping and fulfilment partners — delivery of your order;
- Email marketing provider — sending communications you have subscribed to;
- Analytics and advertising providers — audience measurement and advertising performance.
Some of these providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. In that case, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We require our providers to protect your information with appropriate safeguards.
6. How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as required by applicable tax and commercial law, and marketing data until you withdraw your consent. After that, information is deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to marketing. Write to contact@trykakiya.com. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable law (generally 30 days).
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or with your provincial privacy authority.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access restrictions. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary to operate the store (cart, checkout, security), as well as analytics and advertising cookies. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies; some features of the site may then stop working.
10. Children
Our products and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top indicates the latest version. Material changes will be communicated on this page.
